Welcome to the booking portal for National Grid Person courses. Bookings for courses can now be made and paid for through this booking portal. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are available here and they will be regularly updated.
Person
Individuals who have an in-date Person authorisation which has been completed since January 2020 should take the online Person Renewal course before it expires. Individuals who require a Person authorisation who are either first time applications or do not have an in-date Person authorisation should book onto the Initial Person course.

National Grid Persons training course prices are increasing. The new course prices
are:

Initial Course Price £525.00 (plus VAT)
- Renewal Course Price £425.00 (plus VAT)
IMPORTANT INFORMATION – From 2nd April 2024 all bookings for NG Initial Persons training will require supporting evidence to be submitted via the Booking Portal confirming that individuals undertaking the course have met the Health and Safety Awareness training prerequisites – please see FAQ’s for further information.
Our Courses
National Grid Person courses are full day courses, aimed at individuals who have not previously held Person authorisation and who work for National Grid as contractor employees. There are two courses that are offered: Person (Substations) and Person (Overhead Lines). These courses consist of e-learning and assessment element and a practical health and safety element. Individuals must bring their own PPE for the practical assessment, details can be found here.
There are also two e-learning packages available for individuals needing to renew their existing Person authorisation: Person Renewal (Substations) and Person Renewal (Overhead Lines).
